Obituary of Christopher James Spring
BALLSTON LAKE –
Christopher James Spring, 77, passed away peacefully at his home in Ballston Lake on August 29, 2022, surrounded by his family.
Born in Riverside, California, he was the eldest son of Harold and Nadine Spring. He was a graduate of Long Lake High School and Hudson Valley Community College.
He retired from Local #12 Ironworkers Albany, NY. He was especially proud of his work at the 1980 Winter Olympic site in Lake Placid. His work included the entryway to the ice skating venue and the race start buildings on White Face Mountain. Chris was also proud of his contribution to the 911 Memorial, “Tempered in Memory 2011”, in Saratoga Springs.
Chris loved spending time in the Adirondacks, especially Indian Lake. It was there that he met, courted, and married his wife, Donna. Throughout his retirement years, you could always find him hunting, fishing, or skiing – the latter with his lifelong buddy, John Hall. He spent many hours working with Kullman Construction and loved to relax and enjoy a glass of wine with his dear friend Miro Muzik. Chris was a NASCAR fan and always enjoyed a good game of cards.
Chris is survived by his wife of 55 years, Donna (Smith); his children, James (Barbara), Stacy (Mike), and Patrick (Vicki); adored grandchildren, Christopher Lawrence Spring and Leah Grace Higgins; his sister Susan (Robert) Lange, and brother Stephen (the late Linda); cousin Nathan (Darlene) Kullman; and several cousins, nieces, and nephews. Chris was predeceased by his parents and youngest brother, David.
The family would like to thank Dr. John Pezzulo and the nurses from Community Hospice of Saratoga County for their kind and compassionate care of Chris. In lieu of flowers, donations in Chris’ memory can be made to: Saratoga Hospital Palliative Care Program, 211 Church St., Saratoga Spring, NY 12866.
