From friend: Craig McMullin,
What great memories but where did the time go? Was it skiing after girls just across North Loomis Street from your house, or Mt. Snow or Otis Ridge in Junior High or those High School weekend overnight band trips that I can’t quite recall the name they had for them. Maybe celebrating your mother’s birthday on Christmas Eve after a few manhattans. Remember that beach trip to Misquamicut our senior year, you driving your Dad’s GTO and me in my ’67 Mustang Fastback with a 390 riding on bald snow tires and I made a U-turn across the median on some interstate, way before Smokey and the Bandit, and you followed me with grass and dirt flying everywhere. Or was it “The House” parties on Klaus Anderson Rd. with all of us underage with Bomber in the thick of it who was on the Southwick Police Force, try that today! Of course, the many hours of H.S. soccer and baseball practices, games and bus rides, you were a great half-back and first baseman. Remember, we had an away baseball game at Gateway Regional on a Friday it went into extra innings the night of the Prom. We barely made it back in time and later went to dinner in Holyoke at some Lodge with a large group. Now in college the mahanntans did continue at least on the weekends as I went to a Merchant Marine Academy and you were at AIC, a real college. We made many trips to a large dance hall in Chicopee (remember “the bump”), more house parties where we were dared to “streak”. After a few Manhattans this was not an issue and quickly died to other fun stuff. Then we matured somewhat after receiving college degrees with letters of employment in Pennsylvania and you in New York, we agreed to make things easy as we were both planning to get married that you would be my best man in June and I would be your best man in September of that year. After a few more manhattans and a handshake it was a done deal. So, here’s to you old man, I raise my glass one more time with you Kelly, you will always be missed in my heart, see you on the other side, your life-long friend Craig

John, loved your devilish smile and bawdy sense of humor. We had so many good times playing golf and catching you after your fabulous drives. You were a marvel to work with and a joy to party with. We miss you and Cathy, but treasure the memories. Maybe you will build a Chipmunk Crossing in the sky. But watch out for that saw blade! Love you. Cheryl Barnes

John and Cathy sitting at our table at Holly’s 60th birthday for which we rented the entire restaurant.
It is very difficult for me to comment as I owe so much to John. And he was such a gentleman that he told me that he owed me too. For half of my life I have been blessed by having the Kellogg’s in my life. John was caring, generous and despite situations that were presented was 100% honest and ethical. After both our wives died we tried to keep each other strong. You are missed.
