Obituary of Robert D. Williams

COHOES – Robert D. Williams, affectionately called “Red” or “Uncle Mickey”, age 92, of Cohoes, passed away on Thursday, March 16, 2023, at his home surrounded by his children. Robert was predeceased by his loving wife of 60 years, Anna Simon. He is survived by his 5 children: Audrey Reilly (Skip), Deborah Moore, Ross Williams, Don Williams (Kelly), and Michele Atchinson (Mark). Loving grandfather (Poppy) to 11 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. Also survived by 2 sisters: Judy (Mike) Esposito and Beverly (Fred) Stefan. Many nieces and nephews also survive. Mr. Williams was employed 50 years by the Norton Company as a truck driver. He was known as the “Model T Man” and was a member of the Hit and Miss Motor Club for many years. He restored a 1923 Ford Model T which he proudly displayed car shows. He loved John Wayne cowboy movies and Clint Eastwood movies. Dad was a great storyteller; he will be greatly missed. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Alzheimer's Foundation of America, 322 8th Avenue, 16th Floor, New York, NY 10001. Cremation has taken place through the care of Simple Choices, Inc. Prayers will be offered by graveside at 11 o’clock on Thursday, April 27, 2023, in Elmwood Cemetery, 82 Stillwater Bridge Road, Schaghticoke, NY 12154 (opposite of the fairgrounds).
