Obituary of Dolores Sanders

CLIFTON PARK - Dolores M. Sanders, 71, of Clifton Park, NY, entered into eternal rest on Saturday, March 25th, 2023 at St. Peter’s Hospital. Born in 1951 at Brady Hospital in Albany, NY, Dolores was raised by her father Paul Miller until his passing. Following his death, she was raised by her foster parents, the late Lorraine and Donald Sweet of Stephentown, NY. She was a 1970 graduate from Berlin High School. For more than 30 years, Dolores worked as a Secretary for the New York State Education Department until her retirement in 2009. Dolores – or Dee, as she was known to her friends and family – treasured spending quality time with family including the love of her life, her youngest grandson Aidan. She also enjoyed working on arts and crafts, playing card bingo and dominoes with her friends at Falcon Trace, making dishes for the occasional potluck and trips to Dee-Dee’s Tavern for a night out listening to music with friends. Dolores is survived by her daughter, Carolyn Neary (Sean); her stepchildren Joseph Sanders Jr., Tara Sanders, Phillip Sanders (Karene), Kevin Sanders (Kerri), and Paul Normand (Penny). Dolores is also survived by her foster sisters Debbie Osorio, Donna Huntley, and Linda Warner. She also leaves to cherish her memory, her beloved nieces, nephews, and grandchildren. In addition to her family, she is survived by her many loving family and friends at Falcon Trace and Dee-Dee’s. She was preceded in death by her father, Paul Miller, siblings Shirley Whitney and Fraser Miller, foster parents Donald and Lorraine Sweet, her ex-husband Joseph Sanders Sr., sister-in-law Julia Thomas, and dear friends Patty Benassi and Stacey Kirkwood. As per Dolores’ wishes, her remains will be cremated and interred at Elmwood Hill Cemetery in Troy, NY with a graveside service on Saturday, April 15th, 2023 at 11:00 am.
