I just ran across Dain's obituary looking up some other things on the internet. I wish I had come along this earlier.
I grew us a couple houses away from Dain. He was a few years older than me, so we weren't exactly friends--just neighborhood kids who sometimes spent time together. I especially remember sliding in the fields behind the Boardman/Slusarczyk farm with him and the other neighborhood kids. Dain also taught me a couple of ways to cut corners on chores like lawn mowing so we could spend more time on important things. He and I--in our Boy Scout uniforms--were the first to raise the flag at the "new" postoffice when it opened. I think that was in the spring of 1960, though it might have been 1961. He's a good guy.
