Cremation has taken place through the care of Simple Choices, Inc., in accordance with Dorothy’s wishes. Her ashes were placed to rest beside her husband in the Holy Sepulcher Cemetery during a private service.
Obituary of Dorothy C. Gonski
RAVENA –
Dorothy C. Gonski, 76, of Ravena, formerly of Rensselaer, entered into rest on May 1, 2023, under hospice care in the comfort of her own home.
Mrs. Gonski was born in Albany as the former Dorothy C. Scott on October 24, 1946. She was the daughter of the late Roy and Catherine Scott. Dorothy was raised in Albany and resided in Rensselaer much of her life, recently in Ravena.
She was a graduate of Rensselaer High School. Mrs. Gonski worked in the news stand at the Amtrak Rensselaer Train Station.
Dorothy loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She enjoyed diamond painting, road trips and vacations at the ocean.
The devoted wife of the late Frank Gonski, whom she married on November 6, 1965, in St. John’s Church in Rensselaer.
The loving mother of John (Tammy) Gonski and Trish (Joe) Shaw.
Cherished grandmother of Bryan (Brianna) Andrew and great grandmother of Finlay Declan.
Dearest sister of Donald (Kris) Scott.
In addition to her parents and her husband, Dorothy was predeceased in death by one brother, Donald Scott.
Dorothy’s family wishes to extend their sincere gratitude to St. Peter’s Hospice for their compassion and care during her final days.
