It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Edwin Martin Dufur (“Ed”) on Tuesday, May 9, 2023.
Born on September 10, 1934, in Albany, to the late Edwin and Florence (Conlin) Dufur. He was raised and educated in Castleton-on-Hudson, graduating from Schodack Central High School, going on to earn degrees from SUNY Empire State College, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, and Sage Graduate School.
Ed is survived by his loving wife of 52 years Cecelia Gay (Gillet) Dufur; by two daughters Cecelia (Jason) Pelkey of Barrington, RI; Rebecca Dufur of Boston, MA; grandson Andrew Pelkey; and granddaughter Margaret Pelkey. He is also survived by a sister, Nancy Heath, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, John Dufur.
Ed had a 42-year career with the General Electric Company in Pittsfield, MA, Binghamton, and Schenectady, retiring from the Research and Development Center in Niskayuna. He was an avid reader, golfer, karate instructor, and devoted fan of his grandchildren’s endeavors, including instilling in them a love of golf. Ed was a kind, loving, and generous man who will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
The family would like to thank the staff of Kingsway Arms Nursing and Rehabilitation Center for their care and compassion during Ed’s last days.
