Obituary of Mary Beth Layman

Mary (Shi) Beth Layman of East Greenbush died suddenly on January 17, 2013. Born in Albany on June 12, 1970, she was raised in East Greenbush by her adopted parents, William G. (late) and Mary E. Layman. While she lived most of her adult life in the Bronx, NY, she recently returned to East Greenbush to give her children a better life. "Shi" could light up a room with her presence and bring happiness and smiles to all who knew her. She is survived by her loving children Mustafa K. Layman and Azaria P. Fair, was the birth mother of Jair R. and Michael E. Harper, and the grandmother of Chase L. Harper. She was an integral part of the family of Edward and Mikki Ward-Harper, who considered her their "other daughter". She is also survived by her fiancée Dominick Fuscaldo, and Jasan Ward, Alisa Harper and Elizabeth Vasquez who considered her their "other sister". Shi had many friends in the Capital District and New York City who will greatly miss her presence in their lives. A Memorial Service will be conducted on Saturday, January 26th at 2 PM at the Macedonia Baptist Church, 26 Wilson Avenue, Albany, NY 12205. Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
