Obituary
Obituary of Kathleen Josephine Fennelly
Kathleen Josephine Fennelly of Brooklyn, New York passed away peacefully on February 2, 2013 in the care of her family and friends. She was 99 years old.
When visiting Kathleen you would always be offered a cup of tea and challenged to a couple rounds of Scrabble, her favorite game. Kathleen was a wonderful storyteller, loved traveling, and took great pleasure in entertaining family and friends with tales from New York City, Ireland, and Portugal. She reveled in Irish history and jokes as well.
Kathleen's work ethic was unmatched -- after twenty years at Western Electric and twenty more at General Motors in New York City, she retired to Albany to be closer to her family. When her daughter Patricia passed away, she sprang back from numerous health problems to "take care of my boys" for over a decade. Kathleen was kind-hearted Catholic, giving, and an advocate for the poor - she often volunteered at soup kitchens and and hospitals. She taught us that there is nothing more important than family through the unconditional love and support she gave to hers.
Everybody who met Kathleen felt blessed to have shared in her long and rich life. She was the roof over our heads and will be missed and loved.
