Obituary of Henry J. Bondi
Henry J. Bondi, born to Joseph and Maria Bondi, on May 14, 1924 in Troy NY, died on March 26, 2014.
A graduate of Troy High in 1941, Henry proudly served as an Army Line Corporal in five European conflicts from 1943 to 1946.
Hank came home and attended the Veterans Vocational School for training as an auto mechanic. He worked at the trade for Armory Garage and had his own service station in South Troy.
After a few years of struggling he took an apprenticeship at the Watervliet Arsenal where he trained as a machinist. General Electric turbine machining was his career for thirty-five years and he always had at least one part time job as well. He was truly a great provider. In retirement he found a great passion for golf.
Besides his parents, Henry was predeceased in 1994, by his wife of 47 years, Philomena (Grecco) Bondi. He was also predeceased by siblings: Anthony, Paul, Amelia, Jean, Josie and Mary.
He is survived by his son Joseph (Laura) Bondi of Niskayuna, Nancy Conti of Sarasota, FL. and Tina (Stan) Smith of St. Charles, IL., as well as his grandchildren: Ryan, Cara, Kevin, Krista and Katharine. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Services are private, there will be no calling hours. Entombment will be in Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery, Niskayuna, NY.
Many thanks to all the folks in the Veterans Administration who helped Mr. Bondi along the way.
