Obituary of Jeanne (Slater) Rutz
CLIFTON PARK –
Jeanne (Slater) Rutz, 91, of Clifton Park, NY formerly of Narrowsburg, NY, passed away peacefully on August 18, 2023 at the Schuyler Ridge Residential Healthcare Center in Clifton Park.
The daughter of the late James and Maud Slater, Jeanne was born on October 12, 1931 in Newieden, New York.
Jeanne was raised in Narrowsburg NY, and has also lived in Verbank, NY and lastly in Clifton Park, NY with her daughter and son-in-law.
She was a graduate of Narrowsburg Central Rural School and Crane School of Music (SUNY Potsdam). Jeanne was a private piano teacher for years teaching many students within Narrowsburg from her own home after school. Lastly she worked as an office manager of Landers River Trips until she retired.
Jeanne was formerly a volunteer at Vassar Hospital, and organist for St Francis Catholic Church in Narrowsburg NY. She accompanied students for NYSMA Solo Competitions and played piano for years for school choirs in Narrowsburg Schools. Jeanne was an avid reader, who enjoyed listening to music, playing piano and passing time with her jigsaw puzzles. Jeanne always had a smile on her face. She loved spending time with grandchildren and great grandchildren as well as traveling.
She married the late George Rutz in Callicoon, New York. In addition to her husband, and parents, Jeanne was predeceased by two children: Howard Rutz and Bonnie Hoeft, and five of her siblings: Howard, Gerry, Robert, Blanche and Victor.
Survivors include one daughter Carol (Rutz) Roman and her husband Vic, and son-in-law Allan and daughter-in-law Lynn. Grandchildren: Amanda Patsey, Philip Roman, Caitlin Roman, Kyle Hoeft, Jennifer Rutz, Erik Rutz, Morgan Hoeft and great grandchildren: Madison and Hailey Patsey, Cormac (Mickey) Roman.
Cremation has taken place through the care of Simple Choices, Inc.
A graveside service will be held on Monday, September 4, 2023 at 10 o’clock in the St Francis Catholic Cemetery, Narrowsburg, New York.
