Obituary of Marcel B. Gardner
ALBANY –
Marcel B. Gardner, 73, of Albany, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 3, 2023, following a courageous battle with a long term illness.
Marcel was born to the late Frederick and Ruby (Reed) Hughes in the Bronx on January 17, 1950.
She was married for 12 years to the late Samuel Gardner, a union which produced her only child, Eric Gardner of Albany.
She is survived by her son, Eric, as well as three grandchildren: Asha, Mohamed and Amira.
She also leaves behind loving sisters: Mabel, Deborah, Ceslie, Fredericka and Michelle along with numerous nieces and nephews and cousins.
Marcel was employed for over 36 years with the CSEA Labor Union in Albany, NY starting in 1968 as a Secretary and retired in 2005 as a Coordinator of Internal Elections.
Marcel was the “quiet rock” of her family. An excellent example of a woman with integrity, class and honor. Everyone would seek Marcel’s advice because they knew she was quick to assist and offer the right answers.
We will always love you and you will be forever in our hearts, lovingly submitted by the family.
Cremation has taken place through the care of Simple Choices, Inc.
Relatives and Friends are invited to attend calling hours from 10AM until 12PM on Thursday, November 9, 2023 in the Chapel of Simple Choices, Inc., 218 2nd Avenue (corner of 104th Street) Troy, NY 12180.
