Obituary of Jay Judith Clayton
NEW PALTZ, NY –
Jay Judith Clayton, 82, of New Paltz, formerly of New York City, passed away peacefully in the comfort of her own home on December 31, 2023.
The daughter of the late William and Josephine "Kitty" Colantone, she was born on October 28, 1941 in Youngstown, Ohio.
Jay was raised in Youngstown, Ohio and has also lived in Oxford, Ohio, New York City, Mill Valley, California, Brooklyn, New York, Seattle, Washington and lastly New Paltz, New York.
She received her education from St. Louis Institute of Music and Miami University of Oxford, Ohio.
Ms. Clayton was formerly employed by Cornish College, Banff Center (Canada), City College of New York, University of Music and Performing Arts (Vienna), The New School, Vermont Jazz Center, Universität für Musik (Austria), Peabody Institute, and Princeton University.
Survivors include her children: Dov Clayton (Susan Clayton) and Dejha Colantuono. Her Grandchildren: Miles Jay Clayton and Nyah Savoy Clayton. And one brother and sister-in-law: William Colantone Jr. (Nancy Colantone).
In addition to her parents, Jay was predeceased by her sister, Joyce Perri.

Cremation has taken place through the care of Simple Choices, Inc. Arrangements for a memorial service are pending.
