Obituary of Catherine Stengel
TROY –
Catherine Stengel, 57, of Troy, died February 24, 2024 at Samaritan Hospital in Troy after a brief illness. She was surrounded by her family.
Catherine was born in Lackawanna, NY. She is predeceased by her parents, Leo and Elaine Stengel.
Catherine always loved animals, especially horses. After graduating from high school in Saratoga Springs, she earned an Associate Degree in Animal Husbandry at SUNY Cobleskill. She worked as a groom and assistant trainer for several years in the harness racing industry in New York and Florida.
Catherine spent 28 years with her loving partner Christina Hastings and will be missed by her family and friends. In addition to Christina, Catherine is survived by her siblings, Andrew, Meghan and Michael; members of her blended family including her step mother, Philippa, and siblings, Melanie, Philippa, Jeremy and Meredith; as well as a host of nieces, nephews and great nephews.
In keeping with her wishes and prior arrangements, there will be no service or memorial.
Catherine’s family thanks the staff at Samaritan Hospital for providing her compassionate care.
Cremation has taken place through the care of Simple Choices, Inc.
