Obituary of Floria M. DiCenzo
NISKAYUNA –
We don’t know exactly what day or time Floria M. DiCenzo left this world, and we don’t know exactly what caused her death. But we do know a great many other things about her.
She was born on June 19, 1947, to Mary and Mario DiCenzo and grew up in Medway, Massachusetts. Floria lived on Sandra Lane in Niskayuna for many years, where she was found on Friday, May 3, 2024.
She was a spirited and charismatic woman with a husky laugh who loved gardening, outdoor adventures, and working on her home. Floria could fix just about anything.
She enjoyed the finer things, too: art and museums, entertaining, concerts, dining out, and fashion. Her home was decorated with statues, sculptures, antiques, and collectibles from her travels.
She was as comfortable dressed up as she was in her jeans and “Saturday” clothes, and she made one heck of a salad. She valued diversity, independence, freedom, and intellectual curiosity.
Floria once made her niece haul an antique sleigh across town in her unregistered, old, brown, beat-up Toyota flatbed. She bravely whitewater rafted down the Colorado River, camping under the stars for a week. She was the type of woman you would have a good laugh and a great time with.
She dedicated many years as a School Administrator for BOCES in Albany, NY, where she worked tirelessly to benefit the children there.
Floria had a few passionate relationships in her life and countless friends. One of her closest friends was her Lhasa Apso, Charlie Dickens, whom she called “Pickens.”
In the years before she passed away, Floria was looking for someone with whom to connect in the next chapter of her life—someone open-hearted, honest, fun-loving, and trustworthy. She wanted someone down to earth who laughed easily, loved tenderly, and found enjoyment in the simplest things. May she find that soul in the next realm.
Floria is survived by her brother, William DiCenzo of Saratoga Springs, NY. She is predeceased by her brother, Mario DiCenzo of Dedham, MA, and her parents, Mary and Mario DiCenzo.
She is survived by many nieces and nephews who will miss her dearly.
