Obituary of Kristen Lynn Odell-Putnam
CLIFTON PARK –
It is with broken hearts that the family of Kristen Odell-Putnam of Clifton Park, NY announces her passing on June 1, 2024 following a courageous battle with cancer.
The daughter of Bruce George of Saratoga Springs and Wendy O’Hearn of Malta, Kristen was born November 20, 1986, in Rutland, VT. She moved to the Capital District in 1990 where she attended Ballston Spa HS before obtaining her degree from the University at Albany. Following graduation Kristen worked briefly at Fidelis Care before finding her passion working at Vertex and Steinel America where she was known for her work ethic, leadership, and relentless pursuit of knowledge..
Kristen is survived by her cherished son Tavin Odell, parents, stepparents, Mike O’Hearn and Renie George, siblings Christopher Simpson, Jennifer Simpson and Christina Salemo, and more loving friends than could ever be listed.
Kristen will be forever remembered for her love of family, friends, animals and her Lord and Savior. She had the most amazing sense of humor that always brought smiles and laughter to wherever she was and whoever she was with. She never viewed anyone as a stranger, only friends she had not met yet. Her love of animals continuously resulted in new additions to her home. Kristen inspired those around her. Even when faced with the reality of her illness, she smiled, laughed and led a team to raise money for bladder cancer research. She shared her story to provide hope for others.
The family would like to give thanks to all who so lovingly cared for Kristen. The doctors, nurses and staff at Saratoga Hospital and New York Oncology and Hematology for their excellent care and compassion. A special thank you to Joyce Crawford with The Community Hospice for her unwavering support and comfort to Kristen and her family. The hundreds who provided all the heartfelt prayers for Kristen and the family. Your kind words and encouragement spoken through many cards, phone calls and messages helped more than you know. We will always be beyond grateful for your loving kindness.
In lieu of flowers, Kristen requested donations be made to a trust she established for Tavin’s care and education. Donations may be made at GoFundMe.
If you wish to honor Kristen, hug your loved ones often, adopt a pet, or just say a kind word to a stranger.
There will be a celebration of life for Kristen on Saturday, June 15, 2024 at 2 p.m. at Greater Grace Community Church, 100 Saratoga Village Blvd, Malta, NY 12020.
