Obituary of Sidney E. Decker
COHOES –
Sidney E. Decker, 80, of Cohoes, formerly of Albany, departed this life on June 27, 2024 at St. Peter's Hospital in Albany.
The son of the late Sidney E. Decker and Beatrice Hill, he was born on September 12, 1943 in Port Henry, NY. Sidney moved to the Albany, NY area at the age of 5.
Mr. Decker was formerly employed by Simmons Tool for 20 years; and also Judd Sign and Pepsi Bottling Co.
Sidney loved the Lord with all his heart and soul. He forever was sharing about the love of Jesus with whomever he would meet. He had a heart of gold and would give the shirt off his back if someone needed it. He was gracious, loving, caring, funny and forever giving to any one he knew was in need. The love of his life was Hazel Sheffer, who was always by his side.
Survivors include Hazel Sheffer of Cohoes, NY (the love of his life), his brother, Sid Decker (Patricia) of Philadelphia, PA; his sister, Linda Comstock (Doug) of Troy, NY; his sister, Shayne Ostrander (Butchie) of Cohoes, NY; his sister Jane Coonrad of Cohoes, NY; and his brother, Don Decker of Cohoes, NY.
In addition to his parents, Sidney was predeceased by three sisters: Nancy Decker; Patty Ann Decker; Margaret Decker, and Vikki Hughes, as well as one brother, Ben Jerome.
Our family wishes to thank St. Peter's Hospital for the great care Sidney received, especially Dr. Volo, the cardiologist.
Cremation has taken place through the care of Simple Choices, Inc.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, July 20, 2024 at 11 o’clock at the United Church of Cohoes, 123 Mohawk Street, Cohoes, NY 12047. All are Welcomed.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the United Church of Cohoes where Sidney attended for many years.
