Obituary of Robert Lawrence Fine
MECHANICVILLE –
Robert L. Fine, 87, of Mechanicville, NY, formerly of Jackson, NJ, entered eternal life on June 30, 2024 in the comfort of his own home.
Son of the late Wilfred Fine and Anna Bowker, Robert was born on May 22, 1937 in Redbank, NJ.
Mr. Fine was raised in Redbank NJ and has resided in Asbury NJ, Belmar NJ, Jackson NJ, Shippensburg, Pennsylvania, and Mechanicville, New York.
Robert received his education from the American Detective Training School on August 12, 1966 and also from LaSalle Extension University for business management on July 30, 1975. He received his high school equivalency certificate on November 24, 1970.
Mr. Fine was ordained a priest in the Aaronic Priesthood in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints on January 14, 2018. He was ordained to the office of Elder in the Melchizedek priesthood in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints on September 23, 2018.
From 1979 to 1988, Robert was employed in Neptune, NJ as a flooring salesman and from 1988 to 1994 in Bricktown, NJ. From 1994 until 2002 he was employed as a Wild Animal Gatekeeper at the Great Adventure Park in Jackson, NJ.
A United States Army Veteran, Mr. Fine served in the Army for one year, three months and twenty-seven days, receiving an honorable discharge for his service. He was a member of the American Legion.
Those who knew Robert, knew how much he loved God and his family with his whole heart. He enjoyed fishing and anything outdoors brought him peace. He loved and cared for all animals, God’s creation.
Survivors include his children: Anna Rayhon, Robert J. Fine, Lois Amann and Bobbie Fine.
His grandchildren: Gary Rayhon, Michael Rayhon, Christopher Twiss, Hunter Groff, Sandra Rydberg, Gracie Groff, Miles Groff, Francine Groff, and his great grandchildren: Xavier Rayhon and Amelia Rayhon. He is also survived by one sister, Barbara Smock.
Cremation has taken place through the care of Simple Choices, Inc.
A Celebration of Life with Military Honors will be held on Sunday, July 14, 2024 at 3 o’clock in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 10 Glenmore Ave, Saratoga Springs, NY 12866.
