Obituary of Richard E. Rovelli
COLONIE –
Richard E. Rovelli, 66, of Colonie, passed away peacefully at the Hospice Inn at St. Peter’s Hospital on Sunday, July 28, 2024 surrounded by his loving family.
He was born on July 6, 1958 in Albany, NY. Son of the late John and Rosalie Rovelli.
Richard was raised in Albany and Colonie. He received his education from South Colonie Central School District and Hudson Valley Community College with an Associate’s Degree in X-ray Technology.
Mr. Rovelli began his career as an X-Ray Technologist at Samaritan Hospital, then at Mobil Imaging, ending his career as Senior CAT Scan Technologist at St. Peter's Hospital. He held memberships with the following organizations: ASRT, ARRT and the West Albany Italian Benevolent Society.
Rick loved the sport of bowling having earned 7 perfect 300 games during his lifetime, earning the nickname “Ricky Revs”. He bowled for many years with the Troy City League and at the former Sunset Bowling Lanes. During his later years he helped coach the South Colonie Central School District High School Boys Bowling Team to two New York State Championships. His passion and perfection for the sport was passed to many youths earning him the affectionate nickname of “Stache” by the boys he coached. He was a loyal and avid fan of the NY Yankees, NY Rangers, and the Miami Dolphins, in addition to owning and racing several harness horses at Saratoga Harness Track.
Survivors include his devoted wife of 29 years, Anne (Rinaldi) Rovelli, whom he married on April 22, 1995 at the former St. Francis Roman Catholic Church, Exchange Street, Colonie. His children: Ricky Rovelli (Emily) and Jenna Rovelli. His siblings: Angela Berdar and John Rovelli (Beverly). Survived by several loving aunts, nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to his parents, Richard was predeceased by his brother-in-law Joseph Berdar.

Cremation has taken place through the care of Simple Choices, Inc.
A Remembrance Gathering will be announced at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the Rovelli Family wishes for donations in Richard’s memory be directed to either St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or the Community Hospice Inn of Albany.
