Elliott Ellsworth

Obituary of Elliott Ellsworth

GREENWICH –

Elliott "Bud" Ellsworth, 87, of Greenwich, NY, passed away and was reunited with his best friend and soulmate on August 8, 2024. Born on July 1, 1937, in Utica, NY, to the late Karl Ellsworth and Mildred (Elliott) Ellsworth, Bud was known for his vibrant personality and being the life of the party. He never met a stranger and was truly loved by all who knew him.

Bud loved sharing stories of his childhood growing up in South Troy. He served in the Navy and often reminisced about his adventures on the USS Coral Sea. Following his military service, Bud worked as a carpenter, mastering his craft and becoming known as a Jack of all trades. There was nothing he couldn't fix, and he was the first one his family would call when they needed a hand.

Bud's love for the outdoors was evident in his passion for deer hunting, fishing, and camping, activities he loved sharing with his children and grandchildren. He also had a musical side, enjoying singing and jitterbugging to the oldies and playing the harmonica in the Kingsbury Senior Center's ukulele band. In recent years, Bud enjoyed passing the time watching Mets games and bemoaning the outcomes with his daughter.

Bud's favorite pastime, however, was spending time with his family. He was most proud of his five children and his grandchildren. Throughout his life he loved nothing more than having a beer with his sons, laughing at their jokes, and being surrounded by his favorite music, his wife's good food, and his beloved family.

Bud is survived by his children, Kenneth (Karen) Ellsworth of Stillwater, Scott (Christina) Ellsworth of Valley Falls, Jay (Susan) Ellsworth of Granville, Laurel (Patrick) Myott of Crosby, TX, and Rebecca (Michael) Wlazlo of Greenwich; his adoring grandchildren, Jacqueline, Jessica, Jamie, Mitchell, Megan, Zachary, Caitlyn, and Caleb; his sisters, Karol Gray and Shirley Gray; his sister-in-law and lifelong friend, Gertrude Bracken; and many cherished great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends, including Judy Wood, who showed him friendship and love in his last years.

In addition to his parents, Bud was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years and the catch of his life, Carol Ann (Gilbert) Ellsworth, his sister Rosemary Crosier, and his brother Kenneth Ellsworth.

A celebration of this life well-lived will be held at a later date. In place of flowers, contributions may be made to the Senior Center of Kingsbury and Fort Edward in memory of Bud's gratitude for their friendship when he most needed it.
