Obituary of Patricia Anne Wells

St. Johnsville –

Patricia Anne (Broadbent) Wells, 76, passed away peacefully at the St. Johnsville Nursing Home on Thursday, September 5, 2024, with her loving family by her side.

Born on April 25, 1948 in Rome, NY, Patricia was the daughter of the late Mervin Broadbent and Myra Fraser Broadbent. She attended Holland Patent Central School and had many fond memories of growing up on the family farm on Fraser Road in Steuben, NY.  Over the years, Pat worked for a number of local businesses, including St. Elizabeth’s Hospital and Fleet/ Norstar Bank.  Pat married the love of her life, Dain Wells, on December 30, 1972, and they were married for over 50 years. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother.

Pat is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Leanne Wells, and their children, Gage (Lucy), Jordyn, Andrew, and Leah.  She is also survived by siblings Allen Broadbent, Wesley (Linda) Broadbent, Carol (Robert) Sherwood, Gail (Richard) Hoffman, Janet Broadbent, Wende (Richard) Benson, Doreen Williams, Dora (Joseph) Gay, Mervin (aka Sandy) Broadbent, Michael Broadbent, and Louanne (Dennis) Harto, as well as many extended family members and friends.  Pat was predeceased by her husband Dain, her parents, and brothers Hugh Broadbent and Dean Broadbent.

Pat will be remembered by those close to her for her fun- loving personality, her love for her family, and her strong will. Even in the face of her own adversities, she was always thinking of others and trying to help them in any way she could. She was especially fond of sending cards to let people know she was thinking of them and of collecting newspaper clippings and other mementos to remember special people and events by.

The Wells family would like to extend sincere appreciation to the staff at the St. Johnsville Nursing Home for their compassion and care toward Pat and her family members, and to all who took the time to call or visit to brighten Pat’s days. We would like to specifically mention Pat’s sisters-in-law, Patricia Spicer and Ellen Yutzler, whom she thought of as her own sisters, and who have always made it a point to be there in any way possible.

Cremation has taken place through the care of Simple Choices, Inc. and a private celebration of life will take place at a later date.
