Obituary of Roland E. Comtois, Jr.
COHOES –
Mr. Roland E. Comtois, Jr., 74 of Cohoes, passed away peacefully in the comfort of his own home on September 13, 2024 surrounded by his family.
A lifelong resident of Cohoes, Roland, Jr. was born in Cohoes on May 3, 1950. He was the son of the late Roland E. Comtois, Sr. and Catherine Eileen (Radliff) Comtois.
Roland attended Cohoes High School before he was employed with the City of Cohoes where he operated a backhoe in the city’s public works department. He retired from the City of Cohoes after a lifelong career.
In addition to his parents, Roland was predeceased in death by his siblings: Jo-Ann Comtois and Kenneth Comtois.
He is survived by his son Zac Comtois of California, his siblings: Lorie Okonski of Talladega, AL, Marion Heroux of Nassau, NY, Kathy Sayers of Cohoes, NY, John Gleason, Jr. of Cohoes, NY, Darrin Gleason of Waterford, NY, and Mike Gleason of Clifton Park, NY.
Roland is also survived by special cousins, Kelly and Dale Comtois, who he treated like his own children and worked closely with for 20 years. He also considered Kelly's son, Logan, as a grandson.
Cremation has taken place through the care of Simple Choices, Inc.
Prayers will be offered in a private graveside ceremony in St Agnes Cemetery in Cohoes for his immediate family only.
