Today I received the Spring 2015 issue of The Bell, Thiel College's Magazine for Alumni & Friends, and was stunned and saddened to learn of Charmaine's all-too-soon passing. Charmaine truly was and always will be such a strong and vibrant spirit! We knew each other at Thiel and reconnected in 1980 when I moved to Boston.
One of my favorite memories is the time I traveled from Massachusetts to Connecticut for a weekend visit with Charmaine and her family. Charmaine, Harleigh and Kyle met me at the bus station in Hartford. Before heading home to Simsbury, Charmaine plopped us all on a blanket in a park for a couple of hours to catch the New England Fiddlers Contest and ride the nearby historic carousel. Lots of other memories as well. At Thiel. In Simsbury.
Heartfelt condolences to Charmaine's family, friends, colleagues, students, and every person whose life she touched. Charmaine was one-in-a-million and always will be.

I loved your uniqueness and spirit. Your fearlessness and willingness to go the extra mile. You were always a great support to me and for that I will always be grateful. I always considered "a spirited filly" with your gorgeous mane. Your innumerable inspirational and admirable qualities. It was always fun to be with as I never knew what to expect. Always great fun! I will always miss and love you. your "Charness" will always be kept in my heart. May you rest in peace.

My memories of dear Charmaine are warm and profound. I first made her acquaintance when I had the pleasure of teaching her wonderful children at Galway, and then progressed as she was my Fine Arts Department Chair. There are not enough accolades to describe her fine ethics and intelligence in the educational field. I also shared many fun social times with Charmaine. Sincere sympathy to her family and her many friends who are blessed knowing that her spirit had a profound effect on everyone who encountered her.

Dear extended family,
As one of those Ohio cousins Charmaine spent some time with during those summer visits in her youth, I send my deepest sympathies to each of you at her passing from this life. I will always remember her helping me to learn to dive one day in Aunt Mimi and Uncle Jay's pool. She was my tall, blonde older cousin who took some time with a young kid cousin to teach me a little bit. I guess I was just one of the first of a long line of students in her life. My strong faitb in Jesus, reminds me today of this scripture...Psalm 46:1 God is a safe place to hide, ready to help when we need Him. Praying for each of you as you grieve. Thank you for a beautiful obituary celebrating the life of my tall, blonde cousin, the teacher.
God bless you all,
Cousin Molly (Dice) Buccafurni

Dear Daniel, Harleigh, Kyle & Grandchildren,
It was both an honor and pleasure to have worked side by side with Charmaine for so many years @ the GCSD. She was truly a devoted, gifted and well spoken educator; one of the best in the profession! I shall always remember her attention to detail and the high expectations that she maintained for all of her students. Charmaine was one classy lady but also enjoyed living the simple life. May her legacy live on within all of you and the many other lives (both little & big) that she touched over the years. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and may The Lord continue to comfort you in the days ahead.
With Blessings,
Norm Griffin & Family

I was so sorry to hear about the passing of Mrs. Hutcheson. I remember her best as our energetic gifted and talented teacher in elementary school, and I have many fond memories of doing pigskin math and working through logic problems together on the blackboard. Those classes were always my favorite time of the week. Mrs. Hutcheson knew when to praise and encourage, but more importantly, she knew when to push you when she knew you could do better. Even when I moved up into middle and high school and was no longer her student, she always greeted me with a warm smile and questions about my life. What a wonderful teacher! She will be missed.

What a great loss to everyone that knew this fine lady. I coached her son Kyle in 5th and 6th grade basketball, she was always a great supporter and always made me feel good about helping young kids learn about life.

My most heartfelt condolences for you all. I have many fond memories of summer days spent by the pool at your home. I remember both Harleigh and Kyle as young kids practicing your swimming and your Mom encouraging and reminding you both of how it should be done. Daniel, you were the mystery man whom Charmaine loved. She was ever so kind to me and we had many a conversation by that pool. I know she is sorely missed and my heart goes out to all of you.

My heart goes out to the Hutcheson family. Mrs. Hutcheson was my oldest daughter's teacher 2 yrs ago and she was a wonderful inspiration to my daughter. She taught my daughter to strive for excellence. She also recognized my daughter for her achievements during the year. She made a point to come up to my husband and me during the field day to tell us what a joy she was to have in class. Mrs. Hutcheson will be greatly missed by our girls as well as the other children and staff at Joseph Henry Elementary. May she be able to rest in peace. My thoughts and prayers are with the family during this difficult time.

Char! You started off as my THINK teacher, Mrs. H, but I am so glad to say we ended as family. Thank you for being such a special friend to my mom throughout the years and for all of the good times we shared - Connecticut, Philadelphia, Atlantic City, Six Flags, Hats Off and all of the little things in between! You will live on in many hearts, but most directly through your own - Harleigh and Kyle. You fought hard and I hope you are at peace now... xoxo
My deepest sympathies for your loss Harleigh, Kyle, Daniel and family.
