My sincere condolences to Sheila and Joe's entire family. I fondly remember Joe when he played on the Milne varsity basketball team in the 1950s with my oldest brother Judson. Milne had a great team then and all of the Lockwoods went to every hime game to cheer them on. I was pleasantly surprised a few years later when Joe showed up as my student teacher at Milne to teach my history. class. Mr. Page was an inspiring and dedicated teacher, very friendly, and down to earth. I am so glad to have known Joe and had him for a teacher even if only for a short time...

Joe was principal of Calhoun Hall, Shaker Jr. High School, when I was hired as the French & Spanish teacher there. I soon came to appreciate Joe as a fine human being, a guy to be liked as well as respected. Sheila, condolences on your loss. I remember many lovely Christmas parties hosted by you, the hostess with the mostest.

It was with great sadness that I learned of Joe's passing. Joe was one of my favorite administrators. He was kind, patient, and always willing to listen and give sage advice. He had a wicked sense of humor that was always on point and welcomed. He loved our children like they were his own. His compassion and professionalism made him someone to admire. He will be missed by all who knew him.
