I am one of the lucky Utica College students who took a few classes with Dr . Synakowski. I always enjoyed his classes and he was such a great teacher. Frankly, I would not be the same person I am today if I did not take his classes, He was always talking about exploring abstract ideas like consciousness and reality. Boy! What fun stuff that was. I am truly grateful for his teaching us. And although I taught me many things (most of which I've forgotten after 44 years), I do remember one Roman proverb he used to say:
"-When we are here - death is not.
When death is here - We are not-"

I am so saddened to learn of Kal's passing. I was one of his undergraduate students at Utica College (I attended starting in 967 and graduated in 1971). I was certainly not a memorable student, but Kal taught me so much.
It saddens me to learn he’s gone. My fond memories of him are now a little more somber.
My deepest, sincerest condolences.

The world lost a really good man on December 29th 2015. I remember spending many afternoons with Kal and having a good laugh and sharing great memories. I recall him telling stories about his family and smiling as he talked. Kal had true love and admiration for his wife and missed her so when she went to be with the Lord. Kal loved spending time with my children. There are not many people in the world that open themselves up and are truly a joy to spend time with and get to know. We'll miss you Kal! Love Rachel, Jason, Isabella and Sam

My heartfelt condolences to Kal's family. I was a philosophy student of Kal's at Utica College in the early 1960s. He was, without a doubt, my favorite prof. He amazed me with his unbelievable vocabulary. He took me under his wing and advised me regarding my plans for the future. I am forever grateful for his advice. I was one of the lucky ones to have studied under Kal. We lost touch when I took an assignment overseas, but he was frequently in my thoughts. In one's life you meet a few people who make a huge difference in your life. Kal was one of those in my life. I never got the chance to tell him that, face-to-face. Please accept my heartfelt sympathy for you loss.

I had the good fortune to have Dr. S as a teacher for my philosophy class at Utica College about 1962. I remember a very smart but kind gentleman. I so enjoyed his class. He was a memorable individual, and I have thought about him many times over the years. He certainly left a great impression on me. I will never forget him. I am sure his family felt blessed to have him.
