Obituary of Edith Julia Palmatier

Glenville – Edith Julia Palmatier, 97, of 610 Saratoga Road passed away at Ellis Hospital on Saturday, February 6, 2016. She is now rejoicing in the presence of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Julia was born on October 21, 1918 in Ballston Spa, New York. She was the daughter of the late Robert A. and Edith (DeFreest) Davis of Ballston Spa, New York and Fort Lauderdale, Florida, and the sister of William and Harry Davis and Betty Waterhouse. Julia was predeceased by her husband of 70 years, Robert A. Palmatier (Andy). She is survived by her sister, Betty Waterhouse, three children, Robert A. Palmatier, Jr., Ph.D. (Russell Poteat) of St. Croix in the U. S. Virgin Islands, Theodore H. Palmatier, MD (Alida Wall) of Yakima, Washington, and Mary F. Lolik, MS (Stephen) of Glenville, New York. Additional survivors include six grand-children (James A. Palmatier of Highland, New York; Andrew D. Palmatier of Ballston Center, New York; Theodore H. Palmatier, Jr. (Jenet) of Yakima, Washington; Julie Kate Palmandez (Pablo) of Yakima, Washington; Margaret Beth Camacho (Mac) of Mililani, Hawaii; Nate Palmatier (Kristina) of Yakima, Washington), and seven great-grandchildren (Kate, Steven, Isabel, Luke, and Josephine Camacho of Mililani, Hawaii; Guy and Grace Palmandez of Yakima, Washington; Alura Maya Palmatier of Yakima, Washington) and numerous nieces and nephews on the Palmatier and Davis sides of the family. Julia enjoyed reading, gardening and travel. She and her husband Andy were founding members of East Glenville Community Church. They both accepted Jesus as Lord and Savior and followed his leading in their lives passing on their faith to their children and grandchildren. Julia worked as a homemaker and assisted her husband Andy with the founding and operation of High Mills Garage for nearly 40 years. For many years following retirement, they traveled via RV to Washington and Florida and wintered in North Port and Port St. Lucie, Florida. Julia spent most summers at the family camp on the south shore of the Great Sacandaga Lake, where she and Andy enjoyed entertaining family and church friends. The family wishes to recognize many years of service from faithful caregivers and friends, Linda and Kenny Wachtel, Connie and Victor Kaidas, Carol Saccocio, Margaret Shaver, Christine Tanski and Holly Klein. Burial service will be at 10:30 a.m. on May 7, 2016 at the Charlton Pine Grove Cemetery in Charlton, NY. A memorial service will be held at East Glenville Community Church at 1:30 pm on Saturday, May 7, 2016.
