Obituary of Sheila Kelleher

Sheila Kelleher passed away peacefully at Capital Living Nursing Home, Altamont Avenue in Schenectady on October 27, 2016. Sheila was born in Schenectady on April 6, 1934 to Cornelius F. Kelleher and Mary Murphy Kelleher. She was a communicant of St. Madeleine Sophie Parish in Schenectady. Sheila was a graduate of St. Columba High School in Schenectady and Ellis Hospital School of Nursing in Troy. She worked for many years in the office of Dr. De Lisa in Schenectady. She also worked at Ellis and St Clare Hospitals for forty years. Sheila took every opportunity to be present to people in need of help or encouragement. Sheila was a long-time, valued member of the Catholic Nurses Association in Schenectady. Sheila was a creative and dedicated nurse, a lover of family, and a precious friend. Among her many talents and interests, Sheila was a lover of ballet and opera. Sheila was predeceased by two brothers, Michael and Brian, and (nephew) Sean Anthony Kelleher. She is survived by two sisters, Maureen Selle of Las Vegas and Sister Eileen Kelleher, SNJM of Albany, sisters-in-law Gail and Mary Kelleher, nephew Michael J. Kelleher, niece Jennifer, grand-nephew and grand-nieces Filson, Nora and Katie Kelleher, and her aunt, Anna E. Murphy. Sheila will be greatly missed by family, relatives and many friends. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 o'clock on Monday, December 19th at St. Madeleine Sophie Church, 3500 Carmen Road, Schenectady. Burial will take place at Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery, 2501 Troy Road, Niskayuna following the mass.
