Obituary of Annette (Schwartz) Bloodstein
ALBANY
Annette (née Schwartz) Bloodstein, of Albany, formerly of Brooklyn, passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 27, 2016, surrounded by her loving family. She was 95 years old.
She grew up in the Bronx where, at age 14, she met her future husband, Oliver Bloodstein. They were married for 69 years until his death in 2010. Annette was educated at Hunter College, the University of Iowa and NYU, earning Masters degrees in both speech pathology and vocational rehabilitation. While her husband was serving in the South Pacific during World War II, Annette suspended her studies and worked assembling fighter aircraft. After the war, Annette worked at the Brooklyn College Speech Clinic and then, for 20 years, as an employment counselor and vocational rehabilitation counselor. In retirement, she was involved in many volunteer activities, including working in soup kitchens and nursing homes. She also traveled to India on many occasions over the years, where she was spiritually uplifted by the teachings of Satya Sai Baba.
She is survived by her daughter, Judith Blackstone (Zoran Josipovic), son Daniel (Phyllis), as well as her two adored grandchildren, Corey and Ben, and a loving extended family. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the staff of the Daughters of Sarah Nursing Center and especially to Jason and Retina, for their skill, their compassion, their caring, and their hugs.
