Obituary of William K Ely
William K. Ely Sr., 71, born September 14, 1945 in Cambridge NY, to George and Phyllis Ely, passed away in his sleep on Friday, May 19, 2017.
William is survived by his wife of 54 years, Ida M. Ely of Hoosick, daughter Melissa Ann Rice of Hoosick Falls, son Kenneth Ely Jr of Hoosick Falls, daughter Kerry Ann Maeroe of Norway, his sister Mary L. Hagadorn of Hoosick, 6 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
William is predeceased by his parents, George and Phyllis, brothers George, Walter and Charles, and niece Sandra.
After attending schools in Hoosick Falls, William enlisted in the US Army, served two tours in Viet Nam, receiving the Bronze Star, then retiring as First Sergeant, following 21 years (and 6 days!) active service. He then became owner/operator in trucking for an additional 20 years.
Interment, with Honor Guard, will take place Saturday, June 17th 2017, at 2pm, at the Hoosick Cemetery.
