Obituary of Gilford Joe Gansky

Gilford J. Gansky, 81 of Schenectady died on Wednesday, August 16, 2017 at Baptist Health Nursing and Rehab Center.

Gilford was born in Brainerd, MN, the son of the late Theodore and Dorothy Volk Gansky.

He moved to the Albany area in 1964 and has lived in the Capital Region since.

He joined the Printers Union as a machinist, while still living in MN and brought his skill with him to first work at William’s Press from 1964 to 1970, then moving on to the Knickerbocker/Times Union Newspapers were he worked until his retirement in 1997.  Gilford enjoyed bowling, billiards and working on puzzles.  He was also a great lover of animals.

Gilford was the father of: Rick and Jane (James) Gansky Schmiedel both of Schenectady and Mark (Wendy) and Kirk (Kristi) Gansky of  Guilderland and Poestenkill respectively. He is also survived by three sisters; Audree Beyer and Donna Boostrom both of MN and Connie Fronapfel  of CO, several grand and great grandchildren as well as dear friend Sarah Neach. 

Besides his parents he was also predeceased by a daughter, June Gansky Baker and a sister Shirley Stolk.

A celebration of life for Gilford will be held at the Moose Lodge on Lower Broadway in Schenectady on Sunday, August 27th at 2 PM.

Interment will take place, on September 15, 2017 at 11 AM in Lakewood Cemetery, Minneapolis, MN.
