Obituary of Zofia A. Jaremko
Albany, NY
Zofia Jaremko (Sophie) died in St. Peter’s Hospice, Albany, on April 27, at age 93. She had moved to Albany just weeks before, from Fort Myers, Florida.
She had just started enjoying her new community at Atria Delmar Place Assisted Living before she fell ill. Prior to that, she had been a resident at Cypress Cove Retirement Community in Fort Myers for over six years.
Born in Boryslaw, Poland, she immigrated to Chicago with her husband Stefan, now deceased, their two daughters, and her mother Katarzyna Szlamer. In Chicago she attended drafting school and worked as a draftsman at Sargent & Lundy, an engineering firm, until her retirement. Then she and her husband moved to Ft. Myers where they became members of Kingdom Hall.
She is survived by her daughters Marta Jaremko of Delmar, NY, and Dorothy Jaremko of Carmel, CA; son-in-law Richard; grandchildren Anya and Alfred; sister-in-law; several nephews and nieces; and her constant companion and devoted cat Sarah.
Sophie was loved and appreciated by friends and colleagues for her graceful demeanor, aesthetic sensibilities and gentle disposition.
