Obituary of Salvatore Dominic Osso
Salvatore Dominic (Anthony) Osso, age 69 went home to be with God on June 6, 2018 surrounded by love, with his wife Patricia Osso (Schlesier) by his side at Saratoga Hospital. He was born October 14, 1948 in Jamaica Queens, New York to Frances and Anthony Osso. From his birth to his death on Wednesday he took care of the people he loved and kept them comforted with his quick wit and humor. Sal was the oldest of three siblings; always the protector and defender of his two younger sisters Loretta (Osso) and Rosann (Cardinale). Sal and Pat recently celebrated their 48thwedding anniversary. Together they created a family; Bonnie (Nathan) their daughter and Anthony their son. Bonnie and Anthony’s families gave Sal and Pat five grandchildren. Sal considered his five grandchildren to be his greatest blessings. Every day Caleb, Logan, Evan, Connor, and Ella gave him a reason to keep fighting. They also provided him with the will to live so he could spend another day making memories and enjoying life with his family. Sal worked hard throughout his life to provide for his family the best way he knew how. Through the years he worked in construction, drove a liquor truck, was self-employed installing in-ground sprinklers, and worked security. Vacations were spent doing what he loved best, fishing. Fishing at Cape Cod was his happy place where he made countless memories with his family and lifelong friends. Sal enjoyed volunteering his time to help others. He was a member of the Huntington Manor Fire Department from 1973-1985 where he worked his way up to be Captain of the Hose Company. Sal loved sports; he was the pitcher for the fire departments softball team, winning many championships. He also participated in their tournament team competitions. In 1986 when Sal and his family moved to Clifton Park in upstate New York he continued his love of sports by volunteering his time to coach his children in baseball, softball, and hockey. In the years that followed, Sal could be found watching and yelling at the television as the Mets and Jets continued their losing streaks. This in turn got him away from the TV and onto the golf course. On Monday afternoons he could be found at Eagle Crest Golf Course where he played on the Junc Food League of which he was the President. In order to honor Sal’s wishes he will be cremated and will not have any wake or funeral services. Instead, his family will be planning a Celebration of Life gathering at a date to be announced.
