Obituary of Timothy Dunphy

TROY- Timothy Dunphy aged 71 years of Troy NY born Aug. 17th 1950 in Cohoes NY crossed the great divide quietly Thursday Dec. 16th 2021 after a brave fight with illness. Son of the late John Raymond and Gertrude Margaret (O’Grady) Dunphy and elder brother of Paul Sr.. Surviving Timothy is his loving and devoted wife of 38 years Virginia (Belli) Dunphy, son Devon Dunphy with partner Tanya Lewis and grandson Elliott Dunphy of Sutton MA. His sisters Gail, June and brothers Carl and Mark. His loving brother and sister in-laws Leo, Lisa and the late Georgio. Many nieces and nephews, and of course his beloved dog Nora who comforted him through his final days. Timothy had numerous friends and acquaintances throughout his life who always brought tremendous happiness to him. Frankie G. a life long friend shared many joyful adventures and memorable times together. He equated Timothy to a brother. Sister-in-law Lisa B. always near by, was a loving friend and assisted Timothy and his family immensely. Robyn G. also always there in times of need and always visiting for company. Susan W. along with the NYOH group who provided the care Timothy needed during his illness and his family would like to extend much gratitude for all they were able to do for him. A graduate of Troy High School class of 1968, he pursued many ventures in life and when stricken was employed by Midwest Canvas Corp. He enjoyed working alongside his wonderful friend and boss Barry H. and many other fantastic coworkers including longtime friend Jim R. He had a steadfast commitment to and took pride in his work. His employment also took him around the world allowing him to see many unique locations and leaving his great impression on many souls. Timothy thoroughly enjoyed gardening every year, always experimenting with new types of plants and methods. A talented artist from a young age he always found delight in sketching, doodling and shared his skills with many. He like most enjoyed indulging in music and was a player of bass guitar which he found much enjoyment in. Always a reader of thick novels he spent much time reading all types of books. He found much pleasure in exploring the worlds of science fiction, learning Irish folklore and history, as well as going on fantastic adventures deep within the pages of a favorite book. Always one for a drink he enjoyed his beer and wine especially with the company of friends and loved ones. He also had many adoring pets throughout his life who he gave the utmost love and affection towards. His family and friends will forever miss his great selflessness, devoted compassion and dedicated companionship. In his own simple words; "he lived, he died." No wake or funeral will be held, but there will be a celebration of life to come on a date yet to be decided during late spring or early summer 2022. All friends and family will be invited to attend and commemorate all that was good.
