Obituary of Mary Lee Wesley Bullock
ALBANY –
Mary Lee Wesley Bullock, 71 of Albany, entered into rest on September 8, 2022, in the comfort of her own home in Albany.
The daughter of the late Charlie and Cora Todd, Mary was born on December 23, 1949, in Spartanburg, South Carolina.
Ms. Wesley Bullock has resided in Spartanburg, S.C., Manhattan and Albany, New York.
She received her education from Carver Middle School (SC) Julia Richmond High School (NYC) Adelphi University-College (NY) obtaining two master’s degrees, one in Early Childhood Education and another in Social Work. Ms. Wesley Bullock was working on completing her PhD, but sadly was not able to do so because of her untimely passing.
Her employment history includes: teaching at James Varik Day Care and at the Albany City School District, Social Work and Community Program Development with the Trinity/Urban League, the NYS Child Abuse Hotline as an Intake Case worker and lastly with the NYS Child and Family Services.
In her private quiet time, Mary enjoyed reading and watching old movies and television shows. A woman of faith, Mary loved attending church. She also enjoyed working out, shopping at The Mission, tending to her plants, and flowers. She enjoyed traveling, snacking on sweets, and volunteering her time to help others. She also loved to cook and would cater for Albany-area events.
Mary loved spending time with her grandkids and helping people, she opened her home to countless teenagers in need until she was able to find safe homes for them to stay. She will be warmly remembered for her kindness and giving nature and will be sorely missed by her family and the community.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her daughter Nicole Renée Bullock, her grandchildren: Ahzsa T. Mcbride, Chardennay N. Mcbride and Jasmine M. Mcbride. Also surviving are her siblings: John J. Byrd, Oscar Byrd, Furman Ezekiel, Robert David Byrd and Foster Siblings: Sue, Ronnie, Panda. In addition to her parents, Mary was predeceased by her adopted sister Bonita Carol Davis.
Cremation took place through the care of Simple Choices, Inc. The family is planning to honor Mary in a private way in accordance with her wishes.
