Obituary of Nancy Jean Sokil
WESTMERE –
Nancy Jean (Stahl) Sokil, 59, of Westmere, passed away early Sunday morning on September 4, 2022, after a long battle of health problems, starting with a Scleroderma diagnosis in 2003.
Nancy was a dedicated wife, a proud mother, and a loving grandmother. She was born on October 18, 1962 and graduated from Guilderland High School in 1980. Nancy further her education and Graduated from HVCC in 1983 obtaining a AAS degree in Medical Laboratory Science. She Continued education in computer science and word processing.
Nancy was the Administrative Secretary at the Westminster Presbyterian Church in Albany from 1983 until she retired at the end of 2013. She was a very active life member in the Westmere Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary, serving in capacities as the current Director and as a past President. Nancy had a passion for crafts and horticulture, she was the President of the Westmere Pathfinders 4-H club.
Survivors include her husband Michael Sokil, her son John (Sarah) Sokil, one grandson Henry Sokil, her mother Nancy A. Stahl, her sisters: Donna Abbruzzese and Diane (James) Gade, her brother George J. (Amber Roback) Stahl, as well as many other loving family members. She was predeceased by her father George E. Stahl.
Cremation took place through the care of Simple Choices, Inc. Memorial Services will be held on Saturday, October 22nd at Christ the King Church, 20 Sumpter Avenue in Guilderland with visitation from 9-11AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11AM. Interment will take place at Prospect Hill Cemetery in Guilderland.
