Obituary of Catalina C. Lachica

LATHAM – Catalina C. Lachica, 101, of Latham, formerly of Watervliet and the Philippines, entered into rest on October 11, 2022. The daughter of the late Condrado and Petra (Sapasap) Carino, Catalina was born on April 20, 1921, in the Philippines. Mrs. Lachica was raised in the Philippines, where she met and married her husband, the late Pedro Lachica in 1946. She raised her own family in the Philippines until she and her husband emigrated to the United States in 1985. The Lachica’s made their home in Watervliet before eventually moving to Latham. Catalina will be warmly remembered as a devoted wife, a loving mother and caring grandmother, who dedicated her life to her family as a homemaker who enjoyed gardening. She especially took pride in growing vegetables. Survivors include one daughter, Pelagia Lachica of Latham and one son, Sonny Lachica of the Philippines. She was the cherished grandmother of six grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Catalina was predeceased by one son, Porfirio Lachica, who passed away in 1993 and her husband, Pedro Lachica, who passed away in 2004. The second eldest of four children, Catalina was also predeceased by all three of her brothers. Cremation took place through the care of Simple Choices, Inc. The Family has chosen to honor Catalina in a private way, in which her cremated remains will be brought back to the Philippines for inurnment within the family crypt.
