I was the director of the Manuscripts and Special Collections of the NY State Library and was customer and friend of Donna's for many years. I purchased many manuscripts and other items from Donna and in particular I remember one collection she discovered and sold to the Library. The Hoke family papers from Canajoharie was the first collection of archives from a black NY state family that we ever acquired and the credit goes to Donna. Donna knew an important archive when she saw it! She was a very knowledgeable collector and dealer in local NYS historical documents. More importantly, Donna was one of the nicest people I met in my many years as a librarian. I haven't seen Donna in many years, but remember her fondly and I am sure she will be sorely missed.
