Obituary of Roger Baff
COHOES –
Roger Baff, born on February 20, 1946, has peacefully passed on November 4, 2023.
Raised by loving parents, Sophie (Dukorsky) Baff and Edward Baff, and alongside his late sister Sherri (Baff) Goldblatt, Roger's family instilled in him the values of respect and compassion that would define his life's journey.
Roger is survived by his long-term partner, Cathy Gayron, whose unwavering support and shared adventures enriched his life. He leaves behind a loving family, including his children, Rachel (Chris) Kanz, Aviva (Artuto) Baff, and Aaron Baff, who inherit and carry forward his legacy of kindness and thoughtfulness. To his beloved grandchildren, Micah, Ellie, Daniel, and Lucia, Roger left his treasured penguin collection, a symbol of his enduring connection with them.
Roger's dedication to education was evident in his career as a math teacher at Fonda-Fultonville Central School, where he inspired students for decades. He furthered his academic pursuits with a graduate degree in education, specializing in math and science, at the State University of New York at Albany.
Roger was a man of many careers. In addition to his work in the classroom, he was a leader in the field of education and could often be found writing new curricula at the state level and presenting workshops locally and nationally. He was also a CPA, a role he continued through the end. Working with his long-term clients was as much a social endeavor as it was a service.
One of Roger’s greatest joys was connecting with people. He was a passionate traveler, continually seeking to understand and appreciate the rich tapestry of our global community. Roger's experiences and interactions were a testament to his belief that kindness knows no boundaries.
Roger Baff's legacy as a father, grandfather, partner, educator, and global citizen will forever remain in the hearts and minds of all who had the privilege of knowing him.
