Very sorry to learn of this. Growing up just up the street, I feel lucky to have been in the same neighborhood as Kyle. And, although I didn’t realize it then, how great it was to be exposed to the calm, supportive demeanor of his parents, who always made all us kids feel so welcome at their house and basketball court, (even when we didn’t always behave so well). They always tried to quietly steer us kids onto a good path. And into our teens and 20’s we all still spent time together, playing video games, going to the movies together, going to the Y, and at least once to see him at Ruby Tuesdays. Kyle’s fun personality and great sense of humor was undeniable.
I was happy to catch up with him on the phone a couple of times years later when in our 30’s. I remember being impressed by his openness and honesty, even though we hadn’t spoken in several years. I felt that even though we didn’t see each other, we always wished each other well.
Thanks Kyle for some great memories. Beth, Jerry, Amy, and Megan…truly sorry for your loss and wishing each of you strength during this time. Here is a photo in the Birmingham kitchen on Coolidge Ave in the mid 90’s.

Kyle was my very best friend growing up. We lived on the same street and there are too many fun and joyful memories to share but I wanted to reveal some. I recall making a newspaper together and selling our first and only 3 handwritten copies to neighbors. Birthday parties at Crossgates with his Dad giving us money for the arcade machines to boot. Playing basketball in the backyard of his house as the next door neighbor Mr. Gilbert would comment over the white fence on how he got tired watching us as we would be outside the entire day. His Mom would make us cheese sandwiches for lunch. We played basketball together at the 21st street YMCA and spent more time there than anyone (with our snack packs of juice to help get us through marathon 6-8 hour daily sessions and none of this is an exaggeration.) We played basketball at OLV together from 5th grade thru 8th but it actually felt like it was decades of playing with all the good times and memories. Kyle was the only player I ever played with to give me the game winning assist on a last second bucket at St. Judes - don't know if I ever saw a player steal a pass in mid air and spin around and right before landing find the open person for a game winner but Kyle did. We enjoyed so many good times throughout high school and after college as well - laughter and smiles - there was competitive play when we enjoyed video games on the Atari 2600, Commodore 64 and then graduating to the Sega Dreamcast - we also lived together for half a year in Danbury, Connecticut as he worked full time and I hopped on a train for auditions in NYC - so many very fond memories I had with Kyle. My concentric circle of friends has shrunk since family life and full time work took over but Kyle and I communicated on Facebook on birthdays and such and I was always happy to hear from him. I don't know of anyone that ever said a bad word about Kyle. He was a good guy and always will be. Prayers go to his family and friends. I cannot express how very sorry I am for your loss and no words I ever say will be suffice to how I feel about Kyle. (Kyle posted this hoop photo on my Facebook as well as his other friends in December of 2023.) God bless.
